True Perspective Counselling

Counselling and Psychotherapy in Peterborough and Online
Do you find yourself repeating the same patterns in relationships, even though you understand them intellectually?
Perhaps you find yourself needing reassurance, struggling to trust, becoming overwhelmed by conflict or distance, or finding that experiences from earlier in life still affect how you relate to yourself and others.
You may understand why you react in certain ways, but still find yourself caught in the same patterns.
Therapy can offer a space to slow things down, understand where these patterns may have come from, and explore what might help you relate to yourself and others differently.
Hello, I'm Rosie...
I'm a BACP Accredited psychotherapist with experience working within psychology and counselling services since 2009, and in private practice since 2019.
I work with adults in Peterborough and online, offering a warm, collaborative and non judgemental space to explore whatever has brought you to therapy.
My main training is in psychodynamic counselling. This means we can explore what may be happening beneath the surface of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, including how earlier experiences and relationships may continue to influence the way you see yourself, other people and the world around you.
You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what's wrong or have everything figured out. We can begin with what is happening for you now and, together, gradually explore what may be underneath it.
Attachment and relationships...
I have a particular interest in attachment and relationship patterns.
You might find yourself worrying about whether someone still cares, needing reassurance but feeling uncomfortable asking for it, struggling with trust, or feeling particularly affected by conflict or emotional distance.
You may repeatedly find yourself in relationships that leave you feeling uncertain or emotionally unsettled. Or perhaps when someone becomes emotionally close, you find yourself wanting to withdraw or create distance.
These patterns can be frustrating, particularly when part of you knows that your reactions don't quite fit the situation in front of you.
Therapy can provide a space to explore where these patterns may have developed, how they affect your relationships now, and what you might want to do differently.
I also work with anxiety, self-esteem, boundaries and family dynamics, particularly where these difficulties are connected to relationships, earlier experiences or established patterns of thinking and responding.
Trauma and EMDR...
I also offer EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) where this approach is appropriate.
EMDR can help with processing distressing or traumatic experiences that continue to affect how you feel, think or respond in the present.
I have completed EMDR training and am currently working towards full accreditation in EMDR therapy. We would discuss whether EMDR is appropriate for you and what this would involve before beginning this work.
What is it like to work with me?
I believe that the therapeutic relationship is an important part of what helps create change. Finding a therapist you feel comfortable with matters, particularly when you're talking about experiences or feelings that may be difficult to share.
My approach is warm, collaborative and non-judgemental. I won't expect you to have everything worked out before you come to therapy.
Instead, we can take time to understand what is happening for you, become curious about patterns that may be difficult to make sense of, and consider what you might want to change.
Sessions in Peterborough and online
I offer weekly counselling sessions from my private practice in Peterborough, as well as online therapy via Zoom.
My practice is based in a purpose converted building at my home. It is separate from the main house and provides a comfortable and confidential space for sessions, with free on street parking and public transport access.
Counselling sessions are £50 for 50 minutes.
EMDR sessions are £60 for 60 minutes, allowing additional time for the processing involved.
I work on a weekly basis, with sessions generally taking place at the same time each week.
Could therapy be right for you?
You don't need to be certain that therapy is the right answer, or know exactly what you want to change.
If something you've read here feels familiar, an initial conversation can be a useful place to start.
We can talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you're hoping for, and whether you feel my approach might be a good fit for you.
